Transcare

PROJECT OVERVIEW

TransCare is a collaborative effort hosted at Sangath that brings together academics, researchers, activists, practitioners and transgender community representatives to conduct participatory research, advocacy and education at the intersection of transgender identities, health access and mental health. Our care values: 1. Work towards improving equity in healthcare 2. Recognise intersectionality in experiences of marginalisation 3. Work in partnership with the communities in line with the phrase ‘nothing about us, without us’ 4. Work towards high quality ethical academic scholarship 5. Work towards creating real change through policy advocacy

6. Recognise lived experience as expertise The TransCare initiative involves a series of projects which build on each other to help us better understand the nuances of the intersection of trans identities, health access, equity, rights, inclusion, ethics and the need for reform (in health professionals’ education as well as the delivery of health services).
