Through PracticePal, a conversational agent (chatbot) is being developed, which will function as a ‘therapy aid’. The chatbot will act as a support to remind and encourage clients to complete activities assigned by counsellors (non-specialists) during their counselling sessions. It will also offer the clients a resources to learn about and revise important mental health concepts which are being discussed during the therapy sessions thus, reinforcing the learnings. PracticePal will build on the existing Healthy Activity Program (HAP) client-facing workbook. Through this project, we aim to improve outcomes of counselling sessions through frequent and thorough practice of planned activities
Digital technology, such as conversational agents (chatbots), is a feasible means to improve inter-session reinforcement of therapy concepts by functioning as a therapy aid and in a manner that is acceptable to the service users.
