ENHANCING MENTAL HEALTH IN ASHRAMSHALAS IN GADCHIROLI DISTRICT OF MAHARASHTRA

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Tribal Development Department (TDD) of the state government of Maharashtra runs the “Ashramshala” scheme, which aims at improving the educational status of children from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community in Maharashtra – a state with the second-highest concentration of tribal population after Madhya Pradesh.

 

Key Components:

Intervention developed is part of the project goal. The SEHER (Strengthening Evidence base on scHool-based intErventions for pRomoting adolescent health) intervention is considered as the base for developing the intervention.

  • Understand the mental health needs of the children in the Ashramshalas
  • Adapt the school climate intervention promoting social, emotional health and wellbeing to suit the children in Ashramshalas
  • Demonstrate the acceptability of the intervention content and delivering it in the Ashramshalas through health facilitators
