Beyond Boundaries - BRIDGE

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Inclusive Education believes that all children can learn in their neighbourhood school and study in the same classrooms along with their peers. It promotes the provision of learning opportunities for groups of children that are most vulnerable, examples – those speaking different languages, belonging to different cultures, those with disabilities, those experiencing emotional and behavioural challenges, etc. It urges the educational institutions to appreciate diversity as an important social resource and remove all barriers to learning.

Our previous work through the BB project has revealed that schools in Goa need support to make them inclusive and the stakeholders are looking for a guided process to help them create systems for inclusion of children coming from different vulnerable groups.

The project aims to expand Beyond Boundaries intervention and create a manual that will serve as a guide to understand the process involved to implement inclusive education, create a training course for key stakeholders (heads of schools, teachers, parents and specialists such as counsellors/special educators) and create a policy document for government of Goa, to promote inclusion in the general education schools.
