Eye-tracking Assessment for Children With Autism (EIRA)

PROJECT OVERVIEW

AIM: 

  • To test the utility of eye-tracking in tracking child neuro-development 
  • To test the feasibility of using eye-tracking to measure autism traits and child cognitive development in children in low-resource community settings in Delhi.

 

Rationale:

Eye-tracking technology measures eye-gaze and movements, which can provide valuable information about child neurodevelopment.

  • To identify objective markers using eye-tracking technology of neurodevelopment which can identify autism traits in children.
  • To assess the acceptability and feasibility of using eye-tracking technology with children in low-resource community settings.

KEY IMPACT

  • 120 children with and without neurodevelopmental disorders tested using EIRA
  • 13 in-depth interviews conducted with parents to establish acceptability and feasibility of EIRA
  • Acceptability, feasibility and utility of EIRA toolkit established
